CREDENTIALS- Sam Popkin, Ph.D.
Sam Popkin is a licensed clinical psychologist with professional credentials in lifespan developmental psychology from the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles. He has done research in mental health and aging and has authored over 15 professional articles.
He is currently working on a popular book addressing the concept of benevolent authority in spiritual and personal growth.
Dr. Popkin has worked in major medical settings and was the Director of Clinical Training at the Pittsburgh VA Internship Consortium until he moved to Birmingham, where he has lived since 1993.
Dr. Popkin is a past Chairman of the Continuing Education Committee of the American Psychological Association and continues to work as a consultant to that organization.
He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Currently, Dr. Popkin maintains a limited private practice in psychotherapy for adults and couples, and he is an adjudication consultant to the Disability Determination Service office in Birmingham.
